Underwater Monitoring – Hydrophone
 Advances in explosives technology and underwater blasting have allowed explosives engineers to extend blast design limits while minimizing the impact to sensitive structures and delicate underwater environments. Coupled with increased worldwide regulatory requirements, this has resulted in an associated increase in the need to monitor transient overpressure in water.
In order to obtain accurate overpressure information in water you need to have the right tools. An Instantel®
Blastmate III™ or
Minimate Plus™ monitor, in conjunction with the high-pressure Instantel Hydrophone (8 to 500 psi) sensor is the system of choice for underwater monitoring. Sample rate is always a concern, because damaging high-pressure waves are often of very short duration; the peak pressure can be missed when monitoring using a conventional sample rate (1,024 Hz). Instantel provides extended sample rates up to 65,000 Hz, so you can be more confident in the data you record.
